ogle can't play DVDs

Happy new year!

I got this DVD player program through apt-get and it wont play the DVD I tested it out with.
The test DVD is Ice Age 1, the OS is Ubuntu 8.1.

Here's the error output when started from a terminal emulator

xscreensaver-command not found.
libdvdread: Invalid IFO for title 7 (VTS_07_0.IFO).
libdvdread: Invalid IFO for title 7 (VTS_07_0.BUP).
FATAL[ogle_nav]: ifoOpenVTSI failed
ctrl: ipc_rmid: Invalid argument

Do I need to add the X11 screensaver? Ubuntu already uses one, may be included with GNOME, and I don't want to confuse the system.

You probably need to add libdvdcss.

videolan.org

click the developers link.
click libdvdcss.

Or in debian/ubuntu, install kaffeine, then run install-css.sh in the /usr/share/doc/kaffeine/ directory.

Other possibilities:

Your DVD is damaged.
Your DVD laser is dirty and needs maintenance.
Your dvdread library is dated.
Your version of OGLE needs --with-oss=yes for your alsa drivers.
It's not Thursday, not raining, and not a full moon (Standard conditions for windows to function properly for more than five minutes in a shot).

Ogle hasn't been updated for some time as far as I know. What you need to do is install libdvdcss. It may be better for you to install a different DVD player though. I use Kaffeine (if you don't have KDE installed, it will install a batch of KDE libraries).
