Office XP under WINE

Hi,

Can someone tell me how to install and run MS Office XP under WINE??

When I tried to install MS Office XP under WINE it said that it needs Windows 98, 2000 or XP to be installed.

What should I do?? I cannot afford to buy Crossover Office.

Hi,

You can try a alternative like openoffice.org.It' free too.
It's able to open and save in office xp format.
Have fun!

Why install MS Office?

I have been using OpenOffice for about a year now. Never had any problems with formatting. I can read and save documents in all the MS formats, without any glitches.

Good Luck

http://frankscorner.org/index.php?p=office2000 are the instructions for Office 2000, they may be applicable to Office XP.

But the native apps - Koffice, the Gnome office apps, OpenOffice.org etc are pretty good alternatives.

I tried Openoffice. Its handling of MS fonts were not very good.

I'm presently using staroffice 7. It is pretty good.

But I do not know how to apply timing on objects(like pictures).

Otherwise, I'm comfortable with staroffice. Can someone tell me how to apply timing for objects, i.e, the timing after which the effect of the object is show on screen.
