If you are unhappy with openoffice, you can try libreoffice. However, in my opinion, openoffice is quite good as it is.

A lot of distros already have a "office suite" on the install dvd
GoOffice or Koffice both are offshoots of liberoffice my personal preference is libreoffice but others will like Openoffice instead with the exception of the NEW libreoffice4 both are almost the same |
The one you have that come with the distro is well tunned for Squeeze, if you don't have the complete suite you can install the missing parts through synaptic package manager, or if you prefer then aptitude or yet apt-get.
Synaptic is very easy to use, if you don't have it installed then in the terminal type(as root): Code:
# apt-get install synaptic |
If you've got OpenOffice already, do you have a problem?
There will always be some MS files that look a bit odd when you import them. Every month I get an auction catalogue and a bid form: the huge catalogue is fine but the one-page bid form has to be tidied up! To keep line lengths right, use the Liberation fonts: the characters are the same width as those in Times New Roman and Arial. Page length cannot be guaranteed, even with different versions of the same word processor. |
