Office.ORG and software trouble

Please help me!!

I have the RH 8 distro, i've never done anything out of common and the office.ORG software is not working. I am able to see the presentation image, but it stays there for lot of time and finally it never loads. The worst is that i can open other things but the image still stays there even if i change the desktop.

I have some other software problems with the "vlc" (video player). It works, but when i close it it just stays there and never close.

Also when the desktop is loading it stays at 66% so i just do eveything as normal and then it finally close.

I havent modify anything but the apache (httpd) service, and some other common things and when i did it it was working properly.

Since some few time to today is having lot of trouble.

What should i do? Should I reinstall it completely?

Although I can't really help you, I'm having similar problems. Whenever I try to save in OpenOffice (I also use the one with RH8.0) format, the program crashes. Tonight I'm gonna download the latest version (1.1), but it's a pretty huge file (74.9megs!). I'd switch to AbiWord, but I need Oo Math. It's rather frustrating, as I just lost two hours of work.

If anyone could help Santorres and I with Oo, that'd be swell.

If you install OpenOffice, use 2 steps:

- install the program as root first:
/...../OpenOffice.org1.1/install --prefix=/opt

- when you're back in your normal user account, run the user/workstation setup: This will install 1MB in your home directory

I know it's annoying.. it took me quite a while to find it out (it's explained a little in the website, but it was hard to find these installation notes)
