Odd issues with OpenGL running as user vs root

I am trying to run Zoom (a screensharing/online meeting app) and I have an odd problem. It runs great if I run it using sudo, but it fails to render things in the application window if I run it as a regular user.

Saving the output from running it from the command line I see that running as root a much longer list of GL_EXTENSIONS are listed than as a regular user. I poked around at the libGL* libraries and the /dev/nvidia* files and there don't appear to be any permissions issues.

I'm not sure where the next place I should start looking.

Zoom needs access to your camera (obviously). Not sure if it is a v4l device or whatever, but you'll have to check the permissions for that file under /dev and likely add your user to another users group. The command "usermod" comes to mind here. (Read about it first!)
