odd apt-get error in debian

http://debian.tu-bs.de/mplayer/ftp.n...arillat/dists/

that is a real URL from my /etc/apt/sources.list file.
Code:
media:~# apt-get update
Hit http://security.debian.org testing/updates/main Packages
Hit http://security.debian.org testing/updates/main Release
Hit http://security.debian.org testing/updates/contrib Packages
Hit http://security.debian.org testing/updates/contrib Release
Err http://debian.tu-bs.de stable/main Packages
  404 Not Found
Ign http://debian.tu-bs.de stable/main Release
Get:1 http://ftp.au.debian.org testing/main Packages [3122kB]
Get:2 http://ftp.au.debian.org testing/main Release [81B]
Fetched 3122kB in 20s (155kB/s)
Failed to fetch http://debian.tu-bs.de/mplayer/ftp.n...86/Packages.gz 404 Not Found
Reading Package Lists... Done
E: Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

now when i navigate via the above link the Packages.gz is right there at the top of the page, why does apt-get not find it?

http://debian.tu-bs.de/mplayer/ftp.n...n/binary-i386/

that is the URL when following stable/main/binary-i386 just like apt-get does above, but it is not seeing the Packages.gz and i can manualy download it. now i am looking at this via Opera in a winXP box, but still i am not getting a 404 not found error.

someone elighten me please???

did you dig what you get when you click on the apt complaint

Failed to fetch http://debian.tu-bs.de/mplayer/ftp....386/Packages.gz 404 Not Found

well you get 404 Not Found

if you break the way this server truncates and look at the url it's
debian.tu-bs.de/mplayer/ftp.nerim.net/debian-marillat/dists/dists/stable/main/binary-i386/Packages.gz

so it's got /dists/ in there twice .. oops ..

take the trailing /dists out of the url in sources.list
