OCR Program for Linux

is there a good OCR software for Linux available (free or commercial), like OmniPage on Windows?

I have tried gocr but it has problems with pictures in it (I don't need them but the program should ignore them in a smart way, gocr is confused and stop recognition).

Thanks for your help

Try using Kooka in combination with GOCR. It will allow you to select around the pictures and provides a good graphical front end for GOCR.
