i've tried my damdest to get nvidias stupid drivers to work with their own hardware on linux but nothing ever works. the end result of every try is the black screen o' death, much worse than windows blue screen. i've posted on the nvidia forums and NO ONE know wtf to do. i've emailed nvidia with zero reply and i'm thinking ATI is sounding dam good right now.

i'm running Slack 10 with an Nvidia Go5700 and trying to get the 6629 drivers to even show a screen. i've read the stupid README on the FTP site and nothing works there. i'm currently just using the nv drivers but i cant play Doom3 with them. if anyone has any clue on how to fix this or what might fix this please post it, i'm freaking tired of 100's of views and zero responses.

how do you get the stuff from the readme file to work? i'm thinking i might have imputed it wrong. any hints?
