Question NVIDIA geForce2 GO 16MB

HI everyone..I am new to Linux, and just installed RH 7.1 yesterday on my Dell Inspiron 8000 running WinME on a PIII 900 MHZ with a NVIDIA Geforce 2 Go video card...now my biggest problem is that I am having a really hard time getting Xconfigurator to recognize my card..and I even installed 2 RPM files from NVIDIA . They were:

NVIDIA_kernel-1.0-1251.src.rpm
AND
NVIDIA_GLX-1.0-1251.i286.rpm

to intstall them I did:
rpm -ivh NVIDIA_kernel-1.0-1251.src.rpm
followed by
rpm -ivh NVIDIA_GLX-1.0-1251.i286.rpm

When I go back to the Xconfig screen, I still see no option for NVIDIA Geforce 2 GO. I have no idea what the next course of action should be..When I try to let my monitor get probed by Xconfig, it scrambles the screen and I have to turn the PC off, causing problems because of improper shutdown. I read a few personal web pages on how people edited the Xconfig-4 file to fi the problem but that is a little above my level of understanding right now..basically I need a lot of help here and I dont really know any a Linux users..I can only run the shell here and its getting frustrating..any ideas would help..

using Xconfig won't work... you're going to have to edit the /etc/XF86Config file manually. do a search on "NVIDIA" on the search function for this website... you should get quite a few hits, so if you have any other problems, one of the threads should have an answer.
