nVidia GeForce Ti200 OpenGL
Hi. I am using an nVidia GeForce 3 Ti 200 graphics card, the drivers are CARD: nVidia GeForce 3 (generic). Could anyone tell me how to get OpenGL working from hardware rather than sofware rendering? I'm guessing I need drivers for it but I'm not sure which drivers or whether it can be done with the generic drivers.
Thanks Chris. |
You will need to download nvidia's own drivers and follow the included instructions. They are very verbose so it should not pose too big a problem.

I looked at that but they said i would have to recompile the kernel to 8k stacks instead of 4k, seems a rather long way around to get hardware rendering. Is there no way to get the hardware rendering with the generic drivers?
Thanks for your help, Chris |
No, I'm afraid not. nvidia has not released enough documentation to get hardware acceleration going with open source drivers.

Ok, Ill download their drivers today :-(
Thankyou very much for your help, its greatly appreciated. Chris |
Just installed nVidia's drivers. Much simpler than their forums led me to believe - I didnt have to recompile the kernel at all. Just downloaded the files, reboot into runlevel 3 and install em.
After changing the xorg.conf file I get between 2500 and 3000fps with glxgears windowed, and about 300fps full screen :-) Thankyou very much for your help. Chris. |
