umm yeah in the installer they asked me to specify a link. And this is the link to that directory file:/lib/modules/2.6.8.1-12mdksmp. You want me too init 3, sh (driver location) after i get all those errors ill put cd /lib/modules/2.6.4-52. Is that all right?

I should of said at the start that the 'build' link I mentioned is for when you use a 2.6 kernel.

The installer expects it there. It reaches the kernel source through /lib/modules/<kernel-version>/build.

Mandrake may have the link there already, but an earlier version of Mandrake Linux didn't have it which caused problems. In that case, just create the link, or use one of the installation program options to indicate where the source is. If it compiles successfully, then you need to edit your /etc/X11/XF86config file as per the instructions.

i left mandrake because it couldnt detect my CD-ROM and DVD-ROM's. That's why i couldn't install the kernel-source. I managed to mount the ISO and install the kernel-source, Then i installed the drivers successfully but then i had no GUI (I think that's normall) then i ran xf86config and selected all my drivers and that still didn't solve the problem. So i'm back too RH9. Thanks for all the help anyway guys.

Strange it would not see the CD drive. That is confusing to say the least. I have never ran into that before.

May want to try the next release. Maybe it will detect it better, just in case there is something "new" about the CD drive.

Sorry it didn't work out.

Later
