Nvidia drivers
 
Im a total Newbie to Linux , trying to understand it all , I recently downloaded the latest Nvidia drivers while installing them i get an error saying the drivers must be ran as root , i tried installing in and outside X and i still get the same problem . help

well run them as root :D and the only way you can do it is without the X Server running so if you try whilst it is then there is no chance of doing it...for a run down on how to go about installing them then go to the Linux -> General fourm and there is a sticky thread ( the first thread) with instructions.

Why can't people always answer people, anyway root is the"can do everything & anything" account, did you set root up on install, just do a su root in shell, & type the pasword or type root then the pasword at login if you want the gui. That is all the info I can offer.
