Nvidia driver problem in OS11.1

Hi,

Im running OpenSUSE 11.1 with KDE 3.5. I wanted to install the latest NVIDIA driver, so I downloaded the 32bit english display driver on their site.

I installed this file the following way
  1. installed package "Kernel-source and gcc"
  2. opened a terminal as "su"
  3. gave command "init 3"
  4. browsed to driver location
  5. gave the command "sh NVIDIA-drivername.sh"
  6. let the installation compile a driver for my kernel and/or x server
  7. after installation gave the "init 5" command
  8. system boots KDE 4.1??! WHY??

the driver is installed perfectly, only problem is that KDE 4.1 is started after installation, while I installed the system with KDE 3.5.

Is it possible to switch back to KDE 3.5, or do I need to reinstall my computer, if so how do I avoid making the same mistake again.

tnx, Wouter

What if you logout and select KDE3 from the Session Type menu in the bottom left corner of the login page?

Thumbs up tnx

system is working again after selecting "KDE3" as the session type while logging in to the system, when I reboot my system, KDE3.5 is started again.

Still it's very weird that KDE4.1 is installed, I never selected this in Yast (package manager), or while installing.

Thanks for the tip!

Wouter
