I have some trouble with the drivers for my GeForce TI 4200 card. When I use the "nv" driver I can get into X but openGL doesn't work. When I use the "nvidia" driver I can't get into X at all; I get a message that says something about "Cannot open device /dev/nvidia0" and "The nvidia kernel module does not appear to be receiving interrupts". I've installed the nVidia drivers from nvidia.com, through the synaptic, and with the "Envy" script and this is always what happens. Also, I am using Ubuntu 6.10.
Here is what glxgears says:
Code:
Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0".
Error: couldn't get an RGB, Double-buffered visual
And what glxinfo says:
Code:
name of display: :0.0
Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0".
Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0".
Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0".
