I run on Intel (go to
www.nvidia.com to find your driver), this is what I usually have to do as soon as something in the X-system-chain is updated (then gdm/kdm or whatever doesn't run, don't panic!): Go to
http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_d..._1.0-7676.html,
download NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-7676-pkg1.run (or find it already somewhere local, better if you have no browser) and and run
# sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-7676-pkg1.run
when a lot of things will be done and configured, probably the driver is re-compiled, etc., but fully automatic, no problem! When finished, restart your display manager, all back in order!
