i previously had installed fedora and now use a flavour of mandrake ......
in both operating system i cant able start the x mode after installing and configuring driver. The system hangs after i give startx command..

the log file shows modules are loaded till glx sometime and sometime till Nvidia without any errors (EE). for Vesa driver it would load fine..

what might be the problem!!!???. please tell how to upload files so that i can upload xconfig and xlog file..

I run on Intel (go to www.nvidia.com to find your driver), this is what I usually have to do as soon as something in the X-system-chain is updated (then gdm/kdm or whatever doesn't run, don't panic!): Go to http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_d..._1.0-7676.html,
download NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-7676-pkg1.run (or find it already somewhere local, better if you have no browser) and and run

# sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-7676-pkg1.run

when a lot of things will be done and configured, probably the driver is re-compiled, etc., but fully automatic, no problem! When finished, restart your display manager, all back in order!
