Nvidia driver install in Debian Woody

I have the .run file from nvidia.com, I have tried compiling from source and got errors with insmod. I have tried to use a mini-howto for Debian using dpkg and dselect and I get dependecy errors. What is the best way to install Nvidia drivers in Debian?

The nvidia drivers need to be run with X stopped. Boot up into a console only (no gui), make sure your net connection is active and then run the file.

You also need to have compiled your own kernel, or alternatively have the kernel-headers package installed for the kernel you're running.

I did run the .run file from Nvidia without X running. I also did compile my own kernel and have the headers.

I got the drivers to work. The nvidia slash screen comes up and X starts but prior to KDE loading I get the error.

"unable to start kdeinit. Please check your installation"

or something to that effect. In XFree86.0.log there is the error.

"II) LoadModule: "GLcore"
(WW) Warning, couldn't open module GLcore
(II) UnloadModule: "GLcore"
(EE) Failed to load module "GLcore" (module does not exist, 0)
"

Is this causing the problem? How do I get GLcore to load?

well after a little RTFM I found out I was supposed to remove those lines :]
