Numlock and no sound

Hi all
I'm a Linux newbie and just coming to terms with things....
I've a couple of questions for you all.
First how do I set RH9 to start with numlock turned on?
The second question is CD player has no sound. During the setup of RH9 the test sound played ok, yet when I load a CD it runs but no sound comes out, I've check the settings of the volume control and it all seams fine, any ideas?

Hi Dave, i am a newbie to linux too but i think i could help you with that problem cause i installed RH9.1 on mine too. there should be a hole on the front of your cd drive where you could hook up your speaker to. try that one hopefully it'll work.

Remember : Linux(any distro) "dumps" all the bios settings at boot. That includes the "numlock=on"-setting.
I haven't figured out , how to change that , but one finger on the numlock-button after boot isn't that much of work , now is it?
Still , I agree ; it's a minor nuisance.
