ntpd listening and interface changes

Hi,

I'm running a local NTP server (openntpd). The ntpd starts early, and virtual interfaces (vlans, wifi) come up after.
In the config I have
Code:
listen on *
What happens is that ntpd listens only on the interfaces that were alredy up, and ignoring anything that comes after.

Any ideas on how to make ntpd react to network interface changes?

Thanks.

#1 Why are you starting it up before all of your interfaces are active? If you delay start, it will come up listening on all of them.

#2 Doing a restart on NTPD after yoou have brought up the extra interfaces would resolve this issue.

#3 You could include mutiple listen lines for the multiple networks. I am not sure that this would help, but documentation indicaztes it MAY on recent versions (4.4 and later?). What version are you using?

1) I don't like "random" delays. Who knows when which interface will be available... (wifi to come up, drivers to load, virtual interfaces setup...). This is a solution, albeit not preferred one.

2) yes, but its another step to remember on interface changes.
3) openntpd-6.0_p1

I do not recall anyone mentioning "random", and that was not my intent.[quote]

2) yes, but its another step to remember on interface changes.[/quote[not if you automate it.

That is, to my knowledge, a good and capable version.
