ntp problems

've got an odd problem I'm hoping someone can help with.

All our CentOS servers sync to a windows domain time server and we're migrating to a new CentOS time server.

however in testing the setup with the clients I get the following

# ntpdate 10.10.31.211
16 Mar 09:20:46 ntpdate[2646]: no server suitable for synchronization found

checking to see if I can at least query...

# ntpdate -q 10.10.31.211
server 10.10.31.211, stratum 16, offset 17579.121921, delay 0.02591
16 Mar 09:08:07 ntpdate[2606]: no server suitable for synchronization found

so it queried the server and also failed. huh?

any ideas? If you can help me,please reply me here,or if you have some reference material, you can send to my mail: dong@3anetwork.com

The server is a stratum 16 which typically means it is using its internal clock as a source. What are you using for a source to sync the server? Post the servers ntp.conf file.

In addition the clock shows the date as 16 Mar.
