NTFS problem
Hello
I have a problem mounting NTFS drive Here is it: [root@swetko swetko]# mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/Win_C mount: fs type ntfs not supported by kernel So I'm afraid, cause this sounds like I have problem with the kernel Please tell me how to mount this drive. Do I need to install a module or sth. else I am using Fedora core 3 |
|
thank you
|
I mounted drive sda1 on /mnt/Win_C
but its permissions are forbidden for user and "can read " only for root as root I tried to change them but i said: Could not change permissions for /mnt/Win_C. Is there a command line command with which I can change the premissions |
well.. there are a lot of options for mounting including giving users access to mount/unmount and read/write...
but -- are you trying to get write access for ntfs? it just isn't there quite yet... |
No
I know writing on NTFS is risky although there are some programs but I could open /mnt/Win_C only as root I solved this problem but now there is another I tried to play an MP3 and the player said : due to patent ............blah blah ......... mpeg layer 1/2/3 support is not included in FEDORA 3 what does it mean how can I play MP3 |
yeah... joys of FC...
you need to patch your media applications -- livna.org i beleive has patches, i used to use dag's repository http://dag.wieers.com/packages/ http://livna.org/ |
Or update xmms to the latest version.
