I had installed gcc 3.4 for ubuntu 12.04 for ns 2.34 is it a correct version or need to install some other version of gcc.

In one post you have said to add hardy in sources.list:
hardy need to de installed in all ines of code or only in particular lines.

You are referring to an old post.
Information is valid only for the specified <old-Ubuntu>.
Hardy is Ubuntu 8.04, it's six years old, and not used any more.
Also : All information is valid only if the OS doesn't change.
Which has happened some times with Ubuntu.

Important : We don't know how leach/pegasis will behave with a 64bits OS.
The safe way : Install an ns2 friendly OS, i.e. a 32bits OS.
