Not sure where to start

I would appreciate any ideas regarding this project. I have never done this before so I do not know where to start. I need to network one of our warehouses which is located on at a different physical domain. I need to give that location access to a database. I would prefer to use mysql since that is what most of our stuff is but I guess anything would be ok.

What would work best, web access or some sort of terminal services. Could I for instance put an executible in the remote users home directory that accesses the data? If so what kind of terminal woul you guys recommend that can run on Linux. I do not have any windows servers but I could if it would be easier.

Thanks for the ideas.

Tom
