not enough temporary space during installation ?

i am currently installing a software for my linux server (RHELv2.1), during the installation wizard it returned me an error saying "Not enough temporary space to copy over the files, the requirement is 600 MB and you have 0 MB"

Anyone knows what is wrong with this?
Is it because I allocate too little to the /tmp ? (i think i have allocated 1GB)

Pls help
