Not able to install oracle 9i on red hat 9
hi all,
Im trying to install oracle 9i on red hat 9 which is installed on my laptop(hp 6120) but whenever i try to start the oracle universal installer,it fails to initize and said you need to install java 1.3. I have copied all the oracle three cd's on my laptop and java is there in cd 2 but still it is not able to start the oracle universal installer.I have set all the kernel parameters everything. Thanks in advance. Regards Ankur Arora |
I'm not sure about the Java version error, but there are problems with Redhat 9 and Oracle. There's info at http://www.puschitz.com/InstallingOracle9i.shtml on this - I've used it before and been able to get Oracle running on several different distros.

Given that RH9 is hugely out of date/not supported/patched anymore, are you sure you want to use that.
You'd prob have more success with a more recent distro eg RH Fedora Core 7 or Centos (free ver of RH Enterprise Linux) |
