Noob needs Help with Booting Linux

I am trying to create a dual boot system between XP and Linux. First, I partitioned my hard drive using partition magic. Second I downloaded the iso images from the Fedora Project. I am using boot manager and when I try to boot Linux, I get the message 'preparing to boot Linux,' which hangs. I have changed my bios around and still I can not boot Linux from the CD's that I burned from the Fedora site.
Any suggestions on what I am doing wrong?

I dont know about fedora but other distros allow you to make a boot floppy then continue from the CD to finish the install. Check out their web page to see if they have a downloadable floppy boot file.
