NoMachine NX problem on Fedora 8

I think I've been here before with this - a LONG time ago, but I'm a lot more comfortable with Linux these days (thanks to a lot of help from all the people on this forum)

To come back to the problem, - I have a Fedora 8 machine. It was setup just after Fedora 8 was released, when I was VERY new to Linux.

I installed NoMachine NX Free Version I downloaded from the NoMachine site. It worked fine.

Then one day it stopped working (I think it was after patches and updates from Fedora, because I was too scared to 'fiddle' then!)

I can login and it loads the session information, shows the desktop of the remote machine desktop and then promptly crashes with a message

"connection with the remote server was shut down. Check your network connections" It still does it even if I run the client on the actual box that the client. Node and Server was installed on.

Here is a part of the log from the messages log

I'm baffled - can anyone shed any light on this?

Signal 11 is (usually?) a segmentation fault. Have you upgraded core libraries on the box, but are still running an older version of NX? If so, it might fix the problem if you upgrade NX to the current version (or check the NX website about compatibility).

No, I de-installed NX several times with rpm. de-installed the server the node and the client and then re-installed.

I setup the user db and the user password db, but the problem remains.

Now, I have a SuSE 10.1 box. NX works beautifully on it from inside my firewall nut from OUTside, it tells me that it's not available or access is denied.

All traffic is encrypted and the firewall ports are all open on Port 22 and I can PUTTY to them?

I'm starting to get a bit disillusioned with NX, maybe time to go back to VNC
