I totally agree! I have tried to get those to work with Red Hat 7.3, 8.0, and Mandrake (I think) and have been completely unsuccessful. I thought it was just me, my built-in sound card. and older video card.

I've tried to get away from Windows and run only in Linux, but for real games, watching movies, and for Winamp's visualizations I have to reboot.

<deep sigh> .... don't mind me, I'm just venting too.

Noatun and KDE are junks .Instead use gnome/icewm/blackbox and mplayer.

I am running SuSE 8.1 for about 3 months now, I use NOATUN regularly and have never had a problem with it....

Are you both sure it has nothing to do with your hardware config?

I'm running with this puppy:

Intel 82801BA/BAM AC'97

No probs....;-)

Why even use Noatun? I'm a big KDE fan, but Noatun sucks. As does Kaboodle. Replace them with XMMS with the aRTs plugin, then get MPlayer with the win32 codecs for all your movie needs. XMMS has a couple of it's own visualisations, and with MPlayer you should never need to boot that other OS for almost any movie clip.

noatun isn't very good (except for playing music).
but do you really care? do you need another useless media player able to badly play everything and to consume half of your ressource to play a single 3 sec movie?
Get Mplayer for your movie it is the BEST movie player ever made no matter the plateform (mplayer team really really ROCKS).
