not till you give some actual information.......

XavierP 02-04-2005 06:33 AM

Get the codecs from the Mplayer homepage and install them to /usr/lib/win32 (from memory - the site should say in more detail).

short101 02-04-2005 06:34 AM

It might help if you tell us what distro you are using, and then the program that you are using and then what the error message is. ("needs crack" surely isnt all of it )
(very hard not to say something silly with a "needs crack" error, have typed and retyped this reply several times :) )

Sorry for not explaining the issue

I am using Linux Suse9.1

The video player I am using is Kaffeine, I dont have mplayer installed as I didnt find it

XavierP 02-04-2005 07:04 AM

The MPlayer homepage has a link to codecs which can be used by all of your media players.

John_Emad 02-04-2005 07:24 AM

I downloaded them

first of all I didnt find the directory usr/lib/win32 so I logged as root and created the directory and pasted the files tht I downloaded and yet all the video players I have (Kaffeine,Noatun and Xine) still give me the same message and doesnt play any video !!

John_Emad 02-04-2005 08:29 AM

please someone help coz it is really hard to work on an operating system without the abilty of watching clips and movies !!!

short101 02-04-2005 08:38 AM

You downloaded them, but what did you download them as and did you install them after. How did you download them. Do you use apt or rpms or what. Did you download source or binaries and did they get installed. Where did you copy them from and what kind of files are they? Not trying to be a smart ass but it sounds like you arent actually installing them, just downloading.

O.k. Dont know anything about suse but you need rpm's from the look of it. Or do you use yast. Do you have a repository that you download from. If you dont know what I am talking about, then it is time to google "suse yast rpm howto" and go from there. Have a go at that and see how you go.
