I am running RH9 with KDE desk top environment. The sound card is configured. However, whenever I try to run an audio cd, I can't hear any sound even though the cd is running. How can I fix this ?

Which music player are you using? If it's XMMS, chance are that you need to enable "digital audio extraction." Go to Options --> Preferences. Go to the "Audio I/O Plugins" tab (which should be open by default). Choose "CD Audio Player [libcdaudio.so]" from the Input Plugins list, hit the "Configure" button, and check "digital audio extraction" under the Play mode option in the "Device" tab.
