no sound in ubuntu 7.10

Hi there i'm new to ubuntu.I have an hp dv2000 laptop and it also has ubuntu 6.10 on it.But in 7.10, which i installed today on the same laptop, the sound is not working.Here is the output of lspci...well the relevant line anyway:
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller (rev 02)

Does anyone know what i need to do.Please explain in beginners talk.Thankx in advance
