no sound in media players
 I can't seem to get any mp3 audio playback from any of my media players. I've tried xmms, xine, and Kaboodle. I've changed the settings for each according to the info I found on various searches I did, but nothing works. Oddly enough CD's play just fine ???

I would post the cat /proc/pci results I got, but I don't know how, sorry.:o

As usual, any help will be greatly appreciated.

Oh yeah, and mysteriously, the setup command has stopped working, even as root, so I can't try and fix whatever is wrong that way:( :study:

i see in your distro you say rh7.3, but is that correct or are you actually running redhat 8 or 9?

got it! Just had to disable the onboard sound in the BIOS and crank the sound mixer settings to their max.
