No sound in Macromedia Flash
Animation works fine, but I have no sound and when I try to exit out of a page containing flash, Mozilla freezes up and crashes.

It's asked all the time but here is the answer. install the win32 codecs rpm. that wil lget your sound going. it will also help get the Mplayer Plugin going.
here is a link.

ummm... win32 codecs??? mplayer??? those have absoloutely nothing to do with the macromedia flash plugin...
the common reason why people don't get sound from the flash plugin is cuz of permissions in certain device files... like, /dev/audio0, for example...
in that (example) case, a simple "chmod 666 /dev/audio0" would solve the problem...

It's likely that you have a permissions problem as was mentioned above. Try running the browser from a terminal and look for errors when you run a flash movie. The errors should point you to the correct device.

You guys can tweak permissions until the cows come home. If you don't have the codecs that the player needs it will have no audio. Chek your installed codecs and be sure win32 is installed.

DUDE, THE FLASH PLUGIN DOESN'T NEED ANY WINDOWS CODECS. PERIOD.
PLEASE REFRAIN FROM POSTING IF YOU DON'T HAVE ANYTHING CONSTRUCTIVE TO SAY. IT'S PART OF THE RULES.
here's the link to the flash plugin's requirements FYI:

lunajlt, how's it going??
i was looking through the thread on which i asked about this when i myself was faced with the no-sound issue...
the file i chmod-ed was /dev/dsp0 (chmod 666 /dev/dsp0), and there is a post in the thread that confirms this worked on a fedora core 2 box...
there's also other suggestions and stuff...
here's the thread:
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...threadid=57197
good luck...

yeah I do have an emu10kx sound card...I'm currently logged into windows right now, so I haven't had a chance to mess around with permissions yet, though win32sux, I'll try your idea.
