no sound at startup

Hi guys, this is a repost since I got no helpful replies and the topic is very old. I tried searching the forums and replied to some but have yet to solve the problem.

I am not getting sound at startup. I am using the alsa drivers in slackware 10 with the 2.6.9 build. Additionally, I have to do alsaconf in the shell promt and go through that process to get the sound to turn on. Typing alsactl store does not work nor does alsactl restore.

I might have to script something, but I don't know where to go with that. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

What sound driver are you using, and what soundcard do you have?

Even better give your lspci output. (run the command "lspci")

hi megabyll ,

may be u should check out ur startup settings regarding startup sound.
may be it is muted or not selected.
u may find it in
control center>sound and media>sys. notification
select: 'event source' > kde sys. notification

this might help!!
