No RMPS ? Options

Hello.

I use fedora 3. I like using gnome.

I found gnomefiles.org

I like some of the small and simple progrmas that are listed there.

gtodo
and
gjots2 and others.

anyway.. if there are no rpms listed on ... I look around on freshrpms and others....

what are my options to install and use these programs.....

I am a fairly novice FC# user.. about 6 months... should I ask the creator?

No - what are the extensions on the files. If they're .tar.gz than you'll want to expand them like this:
Code:
tar -xzvf filename.tar.gz
then change to the directory that was created
Code:
cd filename
and read the README or INSTALL file therein.

If there are no .rpm's for your distro, and that is what you want to use, one made for your distro, same distro same version.

You can compile from source. Untar the .tar or .tar.gz file to a temp directory and then read the readme file in the root dir of the package.

It is usually something like

./configure
make
su to root
make install

There are usually options listed that you can use to compile with.
You will have to have gcc and files installed to compile from source.
