"No medium Found" when mounting a DVD ROM that only contains data

Hi all,

I'm not sure what I am doing wrong when I insert a DVD movie and open my favourite DVD player I can view the movie. But when I mount my DVD manually with a DVD ROM that has data I backed up such as source code, VMWare images etc... every mount I will be told No Medium Found.

In /dev I have a link to /dev/cdroms/cdrom1 as dvd which is my DVD drive.

Any suggestions for me to try?

Well, I might be way off base here, but did you perform a "mkisofs" before you burned this data to DVD?

Hi Mad Scientist,

No, I did not that command. The reason is I burnt this DVD from a windows xp machine at work.

Sorry I failed to mention that.

Well I tried again to get this working, booted into Knoppix and same problem. I came to the conclusion that the problem is with my drive. So I purchased a DVD RW drive and installed it.

I no longer have this problem. I can play movies and mount the DVD that has data on it with no problems.
