no "make" command

Hello all,

I hope that a thread like this doesn't exist yet : I can't search because there is a problem with the database.

To the problem now : I have installed Mandriva Linux 2006 X86-64 on a computer using an AMD Athlon64 3500+. First, the installation encounters many problems while installing packages from CD n°2, so I cut it short of that CD. It installs fine, has a few problems with graphics which I rapidly overcome, and then I want to get my wifi card working, so I try to install ndiswrapper.
To do this, I know I need the "kernel-source" package, so I find it in the RPM package manager, ind try to install it. It tells me "cannot install package due to unsatisfied make" First, I don't know what that means, second, I download another kernel, unpack it using "tar -xvzf", and then type "make install" (maybe install is wrong, i write from memory). All I get is : "make : command not found".
Could anyone please help me to solve this problem, or should I try Mandriva 2006 x86-32?

Some distros do not install automake by default [for example SuSE]. In your case, go to your Software Management console and search for "make". If it is there uninstall and then reinstall it. If not, install it.

I found the package, it didn't install, and I found out it was due to the CD 2 which didn't download correctly, and then was badly burnt out.

Thanks for your help,
Serafean
