"no hdlist found" pops up. I cant get it to work........worse yet, I got it to work, and istalled all the software, and at the end it told me that important files were missing, and I have had to start all over. Like I said though, I keep getting this error and cant seeme to get past it. PLEASE HELP!!! |

hdlist error
I have the same problem. Everything runs fine untill a while after I switch to the second install cd. I have the standard package purchased at JandR Computer world.

I had the same problem with Mandrake. I had restart the install a few times, and finally it continued without the error. I also had to use a Custom installation and define all of my disk partitions and select my packages in order for it to continue properly. It was a very weird situation.

I'm having the same problem with the hdlist error. I have the official mandrake 8.1 powerpack, so it has nothing to do with the sketchiness of the distribution. Furthermore, I've used the cd's to install mandrake at least 10 times before without a problem. But now, I get the darn hdlist not found every time I go through the one hour long installation process, and I'm sent back to the beginning. Naturally, this is frustrating.
What is an hdlist, anyway? Is that the CD-ROM's index file?:smash: If anyone has a solution, or at least knows why this error is occuring, please let met know. Until then, I'm trapped in windows! -justin |
It seems to me like a read error of some kind.
can you ctrl_alt_F? and see what's going on during install |
