No CD Player Audio

Hello Folks,

I just installed SuSE 9.2 Professional and have a question regarding audio. Why am I able to have audio from all multimedia and Internet applications but not from any of the CD players that were installed. When the CD is playing, the CD player displays the tracks and related information, progress bar moves, etc. -- just no audio.

I am at a loss to understand this. I would appreciate it someone could explain this to me.

Thanks in advance!
Rickey

Have you checked the volume controll in alsa?!?
If not, then open an terminal and typ - "alsamixer"
When you are done exit alsamixer and locate alsactl and type - "alsactl store" to save settings.
You may have to have root rights to use alsactl

Hope it helps....

Do you have the analog audio cable installed? The one from your CD drive to soundcard?

Also have you increased the volume levels on kscd?
