Did you build from source or install a binary package?

Did you force any dependencies that it had? (If you installed a binary source...)

Problem solve...
i first got the source and had problem compilling it(I usually do...:) )
So then i found a slack pkg on linuxpackages.com and that is the one i was using... By reading your post i decided to try the source from nmap home page, i got nmap 3.70, it compiled fine and work good... thanks to you!!!
I wonder if it would be appropiated to let linuxpackages know about the problem i had.

If you got the package from them for your distribution, and it did not complain of any dependency problems, but still failed, then they should know about it. They might have a bug tracking service you could log it in (don't know, I get all my packages from RPMFind and Gentoo...)
