"Nimbus Roman No9 L" font= Times NR?

MyOpenOffice is starting documents in font Nimbus Roman No9 L." Is that supposed to be an equivalent to Times New Roman? They look the same.

It's probably the best font as far as a visual match is concerned, just as Nimbus Sans looks like Arial, and Nimbus Mono like Courier.

If you frequently need to swap documents with Windows users, it's worth looking at the Liberation fonts. They are designed so that the characters have the same dimensions as the TNR/A equivalents, so that page layouts will stay unchanged. On the other hand, Liberation Serif doesn't actually look like TNR.
