Newer libraries with rpms

I was trying to install an rpm and it gave me failed dependancies because the library versions I had were actually newer versions than the rpm was looking for. I don't want to downgrade my libraries to install things. Anyone know how I can get around this problem?

1. Find a rpm that takes advantage of/depends on newer library versions,
2. Compile the source and use/build the .spec file to build your custom rpm,
3. Gamble and force install.

In any case posting detailed info like which rpm you're talking about, what errors etc etc will usually be helpfull.
