Newbie question on writing CDs and listening mp3 songs.

Folks,

I am new in linux world. Which software should i use to write CDs? And which software is recommended as mp3 player?

Which are the most popular sites to see comparisons of such applications(and all linux apps in general)and download them?

Thanks in advance.
Singh

k3b seems to be very loved graphical cd writing software (and i think it's included in most desktop distros)...

http://www.k3b.org/

if you prefer the command-line, cdrecord is really all you need for burning iso images (it comes with almost every decent distro):

for playing mp3s, i personally like xmms (it also comes with most distros):

http://www.xmms.org/

you might find "The table of equivalents / replacements / analogs of Windows software in Linux" very useful:

http://linuxshop.ru/linuxbegin/win-l...en/table.shtml

if you want a website where you can download stuff that doesn't come with your distro, try freshmeat or sourceforge...

http://www.sourceforge.net

i hope this helps...

=)
