NEWBIE: I need the basics of installing a program

Hi, I have Slackware 9.2 installed (and running great...I love it).

My only beef is that I have not grasped the concept of installing any programs...

If anyone could give me some pointers of where programs need to go and how to get Slackware to execute(?) them and everything, I would greatly appreciate it.

Also, where can I go to re-install a single package that came with the CD-ROMs that I passed up on the initial installation?

Thanks so much for the help.

you can slap the CD's in the drive and take the slack packs or source right off the CD if you want too.

installing a program: very broad topic. search the boards, there is a sticky in one forum dealing with the basics of installation and simple execution of programs installed from source. Of course, there are all different means of application installation and launch (rpm, slackpacks, use of apt-get with rpms, source, bin files...)

I deleted my lengthy post, since it became obsolete in the meantime.
