newbie -- have no vmlinuz.version.h file

just started running a linux box at home, use one at work, but don't administer it.

I need to compile a new tuner module, and from what I've read/googled I need to copy my vmlinux.version.h file to the appropriate place. The problem is I DON'T HAVE ONE in my boot directory. How does this file get there, and why don't I have one?

currently when I try to do a make for video4linux to udpate my modules I get a ton of errors, most relative to what looks like bad or missing includes. I assume this is related to the version.h file, but any other direction on what I need to do to properly set the enviroment for compiling a module would be great.

I appreciate any help anyone get provide

duh, Mandrake 10.1, loaded from CDs downloaded. I'm working on a MythTV box, and my PRV350 card is onw of the newer ones (type 47) and I need an updated tunrer module to work properly with IVTV. I've compiled the IVTV updated drivers, and that works fine, but can't figure out how to compile a new tuner, nor have I been fully sucessful in applying a patch to the tuner, but figure until I can compile a module, I don't need to worry about the patch.
