Newbie-D-Link Printer sharing workaround

I'm a linux newbie, or soon to be a linux newbie.

I've been researching my system components for compatibility issues and need some direction on a D-Link Broadband router Model DI704P, of which I am looking to purchase.

From what I've read in these forums is the router type/compatiblity is not an issue as Linux doesn't see the router because it's ethernet.

So...This router has a parrallel connection for printer sharing, but only comes with MSoft OS software. Has anyone used this router model, or similar situation, and been successful with a workaround to get Linux to also print?

I'm looking at starting with Mandrake 9.2 as my first install:
Dual boot with Win98se already installed,
Motorola Surfboard 5100-Linux compatible,
Router use: Laptop and desktop (both MS OSes) access to I-net and share printer.
