newb updating firefox


i installed knoppix 3.8 to my hdd, full blown using that only now, no other os, and it came wtih firefox 1.0.2 installed, i got the 1.0.4 update..followed

do i need to change the install dir to /usr/lib/mozilla-firefox? i just did it in /home/firefox-installer/...how can i remove that install, just normally go in with konqueror and delte the folder? lol, yes i'm a newb, this will be my first tar'ing updating software..anddddd first step into a longgggg happy linux experience

the thing using installers and not packages from your distro is, HOW DO I UNINSTALL IT AFTER??
it won't be a problem as you just have to delete firefox folders, but could be for others if you compile them.

If you delete the folder, it doesn't matter. you have to update your menus because they will be looking for firefox at its defaut place. The old firefox will still appeared as installed in your packaging system as you didn't uninstall it from apt/synaptic/aptitude.

thank you, i will just delete the folder, but my questino now is...how can i update it, using the installer? just point the installer to the mozilla-firefox directory?

use apt-get, synaptic or aptitude. apt-get and aptitude are installed on your pc, not sure about synaptic on knoppix. For software installation have a look at apt-get/synaptic on debian.org(manuals)
