new Ubuntu install won't boot - No boot loader is installed in the MBR of /dev/sda

Hi
Freshly partitioned a 1TBSSD using gparted following these instructions exactly

https://ubuntu-mate.community/t/gpar...dows-users/797

then installed using this guide

https://ubuntu-mate.community/t/inst...lse-method/651

But when I select my new SSD in BIOS it won't boot

In the following boot settings /dev/nvme0n1 represents my other 512GB SSD with Windows. /dev/sda1,2,3etc represent my 1TB SSD with Ubuntu.

Code:

eco_bach,

You need to be using UEFI/GPT on your Ubuntu SSD to match the UEFI/GPT on the Windows SSD.

MBR is not used on the Ubuntu SSD.

These links may be of help:

First answer here:

NB Do make sure that you have a BACKUP/installation media for your Windows system in case things go wrong.
