new to linux upgrading kopete

I've just installed mandrake 10.1 and it is bundled with kopete 0.8.4. I want to upgrade this to the latest version 0.9.2. I tried downloading the sourcecode on kopete official download page, untared and then i tried to configure. It gave me the error "couldn't find x". What is x exactly? Is it the interface to linux? How do i find where it is and how do i configure the kopete configure script to point to this? Any help would be greately appreciated.

you need to install the devel packages of xorg, which I think are libxorg-x11-devel. Have you setup any urpmi sources for your installation coz it can save you time and effort when installing packages. IF you haven't pay a visit to zebulon.org.uk and easyurpmi.

I've got urpmi working ok but now I am missing qt. Where do i get this from. I have tried urpmi qt and it says everything is installed. urpmi -Qt results in :
The following packages contain Qt:
PyQt
PyQt-devel
QtPixmap
perl-Qt

which I have installed.

I'm not sure where to get or how to get qt.

a few minutes after i posted I worked it out.

Now I'm getting this which I don't understant what it means

checking for KDE... configure: error:
in the prefix, you've chosen, are no KDE headers installed. This will fail.
So, check this please and use another prefix!
