new NVidia driver !!!
Hello everyone!
At first: This is really a great board! I already found many good tips related to my (oh god) many Linux probs. So thanks to everyone posting and moderating. What I wanted to say: NVidia has a new fresh and working driver 4193, released today. It's only one file, a executable shell script, and it worked well on my Mandrake 9.1. The old kernel (4191) complained about a kernel 2.6.X ??? But this, as already said, works. You only have to run it and make the well known modifications in the XF86config-4 file! Hm, what should I say, SERVUS !!! |
*Starts downloading and bouncing around...6.18megs...please work!* :D
Thanks for the tip in advance. :) |
uh-oh... get ready for 500 new "nvidia help!!" threads.... :D
seriously, thanks for the heads-up  |

Worked great, just edited my xf86config file, and ran the installer. Ran perfectly and now im nvidi-ing.

NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-4349.run is way too cool
 Ready for SuSE 8.2 ;-) Not for 8.1 tho (Use NVIDIA_kernel and GLX-x86-1.0-4349.rpms) Have a lot of fun :-) |
Has anyone experienced any performance increases/decreases with the 4349 driver? I run Gnome 2 and the 4191 drivers mucked up with it (lagginess). I went back top 3123 and things went fine. These latest drivers seem to be a little slower as far as 2D performance goes.

I got 15fps more in UT2003. Thats a plus.
