Thumbs up New Launcher in Gnome doesn't appear on the desktop

Not an error - just a work-around I found and thought I'd share.

I'm using Fedora Core 3 with Gnome 2.8, and found that when I created a new launcher on my desktop, it wouldn't actually appear until I logged out and back in.

After some fiddling about, I then discovered that left-clicking on an empty spot on the desktop and pressing Ctrl-R on the keyboard reveals it in all its splendour!!

Hope this helps someone, its amazing how the little things can be the most annoying...

It's the standard Mozilla/Firefox/Nautilus "refresh" button. Reloads the window that's listening to the keyboard - in this case the desktop.
